Rodinia2013: Supercontinental Cycles and Geodynamics
Official website: http://www.rodinia-2013.ru
Venue: Moscow, Russia
Dates:  20-24.05.2013
About conference

Since the 1.0 Ga supercontinent Rodinia was recognized and mapped, it has become a milestone for understanding of Earth's evolution both in the Precambrian and in the Phanerozoic, and global-scale cyclic geodynamics. To continue this global debate, the Faculty of Geology of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia will organize an international scientific symposium entitled УRodinia2013: Supercontinental Cycles and GeodynamicsФ in Moscow on May 20 to 24, 2013. The Symposium will focus on new data on the formation, configuration and break-up of Rodinia, its precursors and successors, and related geodynamics processes. Contributions from all aspects of geology, tectonics and geodynamics, including geochemistry/petrology, basin analysis, geochronology, orogenic studies, paleomagnetism, and global LIP/plume record, metallogeny and geodynamic modeling of Precambrian and Phanerozoic paleogeographies and processes, are welcome.

The tentative Session Themes:
Supercontinents, superplumes and True Polar Wander
Mantle Processes and Supercontinental cycles
Geochronology: new methods and estimates for paleocontinental reconstructions
Supercontinents, Evolving Environments and Life
The Changing Early Earth
Crustal and Lithosphere tectonics during supercontinent assembly
Break up of supercontinents and natural hazards
Rodinia and its ancestors: evidence and reconstructions of Early Precambrian supercontinents
The Assembling Baltica from Archean to Late Proterozoic
From Rodinia through Pangea to Amasia: petroleum systems and hydrocarbon potentials
Geochemical cycles and Sedimentation (Evolution of sediments)
