Announcement and invitation
Ore deposit geologists, mineralogists, geochemists, and metallurgists are invited to attend the 12th International Platinum Symposium (12th IPS) to be held in Yekaterinburg, Urals, Russia between 11 and 14 August 2014 under the auspices of the IAGOD Commission on the Ore Deposits in Mafic-Ultramafic Rocks (CODMUR) and the Department of Earth Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (DES RAS). Yekaterinburg is a big industrial, business, scientific and cultural center of Russia. It is located in the middle of the Eurasian continent, close to the geographical border between Europe and Asia. It has a very interesting history of its foundation and development, related to the exploration and exploitation of economic mineral deposits of the Urals.
A.N. Zavaritsky Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is the main Organizer of Symposium.
There will be four days for eight Thematic Sessions, including keynote, invited, and volunteered oral presentations, dedicated times for poster presentations, a comprehensive range of pre- and post-meeting field trips led by experts, and a two-day pre-meeting workshop organized by leading authorities.
