Dear colleagues! South-East Fennoscandia which is the part of the Baltic crystal Shield is many centuries a source of receiving various natural construction materials. The Karelian natural stone decorates the numerous cities, it can be seen in a decor of buildings and constructions in the distance from the Finnish and the Russian Karelia. Granites, marble, gneisses and other rocks extracted in the region make a basis of monuments of architecture of St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Turku, and other cities well-known for the whole world. Considerable volumes of stone construction materials of the region are used in road construction, improvement of the areas and embankments, facing of residential and production buildings, restoration of monuments of architecture. Organizers of conference hope that the meeting and communication of experts in areas of geology, production and processing, rational, ecologically and economically reasonable use of a natural stone will promote the solution of many research and practical tasks.
