About conference

The Institute of Geology, Karelian Research Centre, RAS, Section of Earth Sciences, RAS, and the RAS Academic Board for the Precambrian are hosting the Scientific Conference “Archean Granite-greenstone Systems and Their Younger Analogues” from 10 to 12 June, 2009.

The subjects to be discussed are:
1. The oldest (Archean) continental and oceanic Earth’s crust: composition, age and genesis.
2. Tectonics, composition and geodynamics of Archean and Proterozoic granite-greenstone systems.
3. Relations of greenstone and granitoid complexes.
4. Isotopic, geochemical and petrological constraints on models of granite-greenstone systems formation.
5. Comparative analysis of Archean, Proterozoic and Phanerozoic greenstone and granitoid complexes.

Conference sessions will be held in the Conference Hall, Institute of Geology, Karelian Research Centre, RAS, Pushkinskaya St, 11, Petrozavodsk Russia.

Both oral presentations and posters are welcome. Each speaker will have 20 minutes for presentation and questions. An invited speakers will have 30 minutes.

Field Trips on the Archean of the Fennoscandian Shield:
8-9 June - South Karelia (Vedlozero-Segozero granite-greenstone system). Free.
13-17 June - Drive across the eastern Fennoscandian Shield from Kostomuksha to Apatity. Preliminary cost is 15000 Rub (?450): including transportation, hotel accommodation and meal. The maximum number of participants is 25 persons and the minimum number is 10.
