We would like to draw your attention and invite you to contribute to
MS38 źStructure solution of minerals and inorganics by electron
crystallography╗ at the 27th European Crystallographic Meeting (ECM27)
in Bergen (Norway), 6-11 August 2012. You can find more information on the
website at http://ecm27.ecanews.org/home.html.
Structure investigation of nano-crystalline minerals and synthetic inorganics
by electron crystallography is a new challenging frontier for mineralogy and
material sciences. Aberration-corrected microscopes allow imaging of nanodomains
and grain boundaries at atomic resolution, while the advent of new electron
diffraction techniques, like precession electron diffraction, automated
diffraction tomography and rotation method, have significantly reduced the
limitations imposed by dynamical effects and have finally allowed the
acquisition of 3D diffraction data for ab initio structure determination. We
therefore invite scientists working in the mineralogical, structural chemistry
and material sciences fields to contribute to this scientific session. Keynote
speakers: Joke Hadermann, University of Antwerp, Different approaches to solving
and refining complex inorganic structures from electron diffraction; Xiaodong
Zou, Stockholm University, Solving 3D structures of nano- and intergrown porous
silicates by combining electron crystallography and powder X-ray diffraction.
The deadline for abstract submission is May 14th 2012.
Early bird registrations are open up April 30th 2012.
We look forward for your contributions.
