we would like to bring to your attention to
the following session at the Frontiers in
Mineral Sciences 2007 meeting to be held at Fitzwilliam College and the Department
of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK, 26-28 June 2007.
3. Internal textures, and trace element and
isotope geochemistry in accessory minerals: Advances in imaging and in situ
In the past two decades much has been learned about the
internal textures, trace element and isotope geochemistry (both radiogenic and
stable), and chemical and physical properties and stability of accessory
minerals including the effects of radiation damage. Developments include
analyzing extremely small fragments of accessory minerals with a high degrees of
age precision and accuracy; characterizing non- destructively their chemical
composition and structural state on a micron-scale; using in situ techniques for
measuring both radiogenic and stable isotopic compositions, and undertaking
experimental studies to model their formation, stability and alteration in a
range of environments. This symposium will bring together researchers from
several disciplines to present recent results in these areas of research.
Invited speakers include Bruce Watson (Troy), Jan Kosler
(Bergen), Richard Wirth (Potsdam), and Lutz Nasdala (Vienna).
The deadline for final registration and abstract submission is
28 February 2007. Further information about the Meeting are
