Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
Regionalization of the Lake Imandra according to the background content of elements in sediments was carried out, for what sediment cores were selected, and the layer-by-layer analysis of accumulation of elements was conducted. Contents of heavy metals (Ni, Cu, Co, Zn, Cd, Pb, As, Hg, Mn, Fe, Cr), alkaline and alkaline-earth metals (Na, K, Ca, Mg, Sr), and also Al and P were de-fined. Determination of background (preindustrial) level of the content of elements was carried out in the deepest parts of sediment cores. Regionalization the Lake was carried out after imaging of schematic maps of distribution of concentration of elements with using of GIS-technologies.
