Abstract - Summary (short description): | |
Origin of drop-shaped hillocks on tetragexahedroids of diamond was studied. The experiments on diamond dissolution in the water-containing carbonate and silicate melts were carried out at high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. Tetragexahedroids of diamond with drop-shaped hillocks were obtained. The photogoniometric analysis showed that the drop-shaped hillocks were the cones with elliptical section and axis along <850> directions. The experimental data showed that origin hillocks was independent on the dissolution conditions. Internal structure of the diamond has been studied and it is concluded that cause of formation of drop-shaped hillocks during diamond dissolution is strong local strains of lattice.
