Abstract - Summary (short description): | |
To perform experimental modeling of natural deformation processes in diamond a technique to generate plastic deformation directly at the mantle PT-parameters was developed. For the experiments we used plane-parallel plates of synthetic type Ib diamond the size to 5×3×1 mm, oriented along the (111). Experiments were carried out using a high-pressure \"split-sphere\" type apparatus (BARS). Parameters of the experiments were as follows: T = 1350-1600°C, P = 5.0-5.5 GPa and a duration of 2 h. Investigation of diamond plates after the experiments showed the formation of nitrogen-vacancy centers associated with the bands of plastic deformation in diamond.
