Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
Experimental studies in the Fe3C-S2 system, aimed at the determining of a potential role of sulfur in processes of carbon extraction from carbide under reduced lithospheric mantle conditions at 6.3 GPa and in the range of 900-1500°C. Found that interaction at T≤1200°C occurs via reaction scheme 2Fe3C + 3S2 → 6FeS + 2C0, with the formation of the association of pyrrhotite and graphite. At T≥1300°C crystallization of graphite is accompanied by formation of sulfide- and metal -sulfide melts. In the course of the carbon-producing reactions in the sulfide or metal sulfide melts at relatively high temperatures, not only graphite is crystallized, but the diamond growth occurs. Results of experimental realization of elemental carbon forming reactions in the sulfur - iron carbide system demonstrate the effectiveness of the interaction regardind the crystallization of graphite and diamond.
