Abstract - Summary (short description): | |
We studied gas–liquid inclusions in minerals of gold-bearing rodingite (diopside, garnet, chlorite, and calcite) from the Karabash alpine-type ultrabasic massif, Southern Ural. Thermometric and cryometric studies and gas chromatography showed that the rodingites were formed at T= 420–470°C (homogenization temperatures range of 115–325°C), P= 1-3 kbar and XCO2 = 0.001–0.02, i.e., under conditions typical for rodingites formation. The rodingite-forming fluid was extremely rich in water (XH2O = 0.935–0.983) and contained hydrogen as the major gas component (XH2 = 0.012–0.048); its composition was essentially chloride–magnesium with minor amounts of CaCl2 and FeCl2 and a low salinity of 0.5–8.3 wt % NaCl equiv. It was found that the rodingites were formed under reducing conditions (CO2/(CO2+CO+H2+CH4 <0.35). |
