An analysis of the state and trends in the development of methods and laboratory technical equipment for applied mineralogy in Russia and the world for forecasting, prospecting, exploration and development of mineral deposits is carried out using open information sources. Comparison of its implementation in Russia and abroad has shown: in the world there is a tendency to optimize studies due to the be express, increasing accuracy, reducing the complexity of the procedure and the cheapness of analysis, and spectral methods are the leading. In our country, the optical microscopy methods are the basic ones in applied research. As a rule, abroad analytical methods are complexed with electron microscopy, and X-ray powder diffraction, and mineral composition is calculated from their data. A typical feature of modern foreign western units is the combination of different methods or different sources of an analytical signal in one device and using software for image recognition/segmentation methods. There is a tendency to automate analysis and computer modeling instead of more time-consuming and time-consuming mineralogical research, which requires a high expert qualification of specialist; as well as quantitative data and metrological assurance of analyzes; automatic image analysis, obtained from different signal sources, and specialized data processing software.
