Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
Ferrites of K and Ba close in composition to the synthetic compounds KFe2+2Fe3+15O25 and BaMg2Fe3+16O27 and mixed K-Ba-ferrite were found in hornfels of the Hatrurim Complex, Palestinian Autonomy. The hexagonal space-group symmetry of K-Ba-ferrite (P-6m2, Z = 2) with a = 5.9137(2), c = 33.1450(15) Å is different to that (P63/mmc) of the K and Ba end-members and yields alternate stacking of -alumina type KMg2Fe15O25 and magnetoplumbite type BaMg2Fe16O27 supermodules, each extending ½ of the unit cell along c. K-Ba-ferrite from Palestinian Autonomy is the first natural modular ferrite with mixed -alumina and magnetoplumbite structure.
