Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
The blast-furnace slag of OJSC MMK is characterized by a heterogeneous structure. Slag-forming phases are akermanite (60-75%), pseudo-vollastonite (19%), fayalite, diopside, ouldgamite, perovskite, ferrite. The amorphous component does not exceed 18%.
The first of the slag melt crystallizes akermanite, forming porphyroid discharges with inclusions of ferrites. During the growth of crystals, the concentration of sulfur in the melt increases. This leads to the formation of oildgamite in the form of independent impurity phases. It forms large skeletal-dendritic forms in the outer zones of akermanite crystals
The eutectic point in the interstices between the crystals akermanite it occurs simultaneously with the growth pseudowollastonite. Also in the interstices are the skeletal forms of oildgamite, perovskite and isolated fayalite and diopside.
