Techniques for X-ray fluorescence determination of valence state and speciation of iron, manganese and sulphur in different types of rocks, iron and manganese ores, ferromanganese nodules and sulphide ores were developed. The method is based on the dependence of some X-ray emission spectrum parameters on the chemical bond. An important advantage of the X-ray spectroscopic method is its rapidity and the absence of complex stages of sample preparation. Comparison of the obtained results with the data of classical analytical methods showed high accuracy of the developed techniques, they satisfy the requirements of quantitative analysis.
