Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
The paper presents data on the results of x-ray, thermal, chemical and microscopic studies of serpentines of the Chrysotile Mg3Si2O5(OH)4 - Pecoraite Ni3Si2O5(OH)4 series of the Ural silicate nickel deposits. The nomenclature of serpentines has been specified in accordance with the norms of the International Mineralogical Association. It is shown that these serpentines are the main ore minerals in serpentine zones, including high-temperature conditions, which are indicators of the hydrothermal origin of a part of silicate nickel ores. The assumption of two- stage structure of the Ural supergene nickel deposits was made: the supergene upper horizon has \"roots\" in the form of a lower hydrothermal stage that significantly expands the search for new deposits and opens up great opportunities in this ancient ore region.
