Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
Crystallization processes in binary “solid solution – aqueous solution” systems are considered theoretically. Our phenomenological approach operates with chemical potentials of components in aqueous and solid solutions, since the differences in chemical potentials of individual components are expected to be the main factors controlling crystallization/dissolution processes in a system. This contribution is devoted to interactions between a crystal of solid solution and an aqueous solution of different composition. The possibilities include continuous growth of the crystal, its dissolution, and complex dissolution/precipitation reactions. It turns out to be possible to obtain simultaneous crystallization of some composition and dissolution of the seed crystal. The results obtained are in qualitative and often in quantitative agreement with the experimental observations published in a literature.
