(short description):
Kelyanite, a new mineral species of the ideal composition Hg12Sb(Cl,Br)3O6 , is trigonal, P3, with the unit cell parameters: a 13.53 Å, c 9.96 Å, V 1593, Z=3.The kelyanite structure can be represented as a three-dimensional framework of SbO6 octahedra and [Hg2] dimers with the short Hg-O contacts (1.99-2.30 Å).
The centers of the [Hg2] dimers and SbO6 octahedra are packed regularly, peculiarities of this packing being discussed as compared to that of shakhovite, eglestonite, and poyarkovite.
