Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
The effect of high pressure high temperature treatment in the range of 1400-2200C on the transformation of nitrogen defects in synthetic diamonds produced in the Ni-Fe-C and Fe-Cu-C systems is studied. It is established that nitrogen aggregation in the {111} growth sectors of crystals from the Fe-Cu-C system exhibit significantly lower rates than in crystals from the Ni-Fe-C system, but shows somewhat higher rate than in the {100} sectors. Based on the experimental data and assuming second order kinetics the following values of the effective activation energy is derived: Ni-Fe-C, {111} - 4.5 eV; Fe-Cu-C, {111} - 5.5 eV; Ni-Fe-C,{100} - 6.0 eV. It is concluded that nitrogen aggregation in diamond is very sensitive to the characteristics of defect-and-impurity structure of the initial crystals.
