Abstract - Summary 
(short description):
Investigations of heavy metals in sediments of Lake Imandra in the zone of influence of the Kola Nuclear Power Plant were carried out in 2011. Almost all sediment cores of investigated stations were characterized by increased contents of Ni and Cu in the upper 1-4 cm. Different thickness of sediments contaminated by heavy metals may be indicative of different rates of sedimentation in some area of water of Babinskaya and Yokostrovskaya Imandra. According to the results of studies of sediments can be concluded that the impact of the Kola Nuclear Power Plant on the pollution of Babinskaya Imandra is negligible, and the main contribution to it made by mining and metallurgical enterprises.
